1) icon stuff: I've done a holiday gift of a { winter/holidays icons post } for you guys and for the people who watch [livejournal.com profile] paper_packages and I'm so pleased with how well received they've been. Talking of icons, I'd really like a new icon table generator where the icons are more spaced out. Anyone have any recommendations?

2) operation: I have a date for my operation and it's on Friday January 28th. FINALLY.

3) heating: I've had no heating for two weeks but have had a new boiler fitted yesterday and am finally warm again. Been sick for about 3 weeks now and I'm sure the lack of heating hasn't helped that. Had another GP appointment for yesterday but due to the snow and icy roads I was unable to get there. Still, nice and toasty now, which is good timing as the South Coast appears to be suffering from the Snowpocalypse. This country is utterly ridiculous.

4) snow: Woke up Thursday morning to find snow had been dumped in large quantities here where I live. Dug my car out (and yes, I had to dig it out) and set off for work about 7am. Only made it as far as my managers house though, then spent the morning there helping her phone all our service users to let them know the day center where we work would be closed for the next two days. I have some snow pictures for you, taken over the last couple of days. They really don't show you though the depth of the snow we've had here, which may be light compared to other places but is pretty rare for the South Coast. Oh, and the reason the road outside my bedroom window looks like a sheet of ice is because it is:

OMG SNOOOOOW! Stay safe and warm in it!

I love your icons so much. I meant to snag some yesterday (OMG the snowmen!), so I will tonight instead. I'm so happy to hear that you have heating again ::hugs you:: that's excellent news. As is your hospital date -- it must be a relief to have it, and scarily enough, that's not too far off, yeah?

From: [identity profile] the-muppet.livejournal.com

The heating is a shock to the system - albeit a good one - and it's taking me a while to adapt to it!

I'm extremely relieved I finally have a hospital date, having waited literally years for this particular operation. Not nervous yet, which is good =)

I'm really happy to hear you liked the icons, thank you! Hope you saw the Big Bang posts too, and that you'll be signing up next year =)

*hugs muchly*

From: [identity profile] misswinterhill.livejournal.com

I did see the BB posts! I have the comms tracked still from last time :D I'm currently thinking I'll probably sign on as a beta or cheerleader. And not nervous is GREAT. I hope you stay calm and carrying on.

From: [identity profile] the-muppet.livejournal.com

Well I stil have a couple of months to cajole you into writing again ;)

Not nervous at all, more excited =)

From: [identity profile] ash48.livejournal.com

Wow. That snow looks awesome. We never get to see it here, so I always see it as kinda magical.

Xx

It was quite beautiful, albeit terrifying to try and drive in!

I use this (http://lj.indisguise.org/icontablegenerator.php) generator, and it's got a couple of different options for layouts. It might have something that would work for you.

Glad you have heating again! DNW a frozen Muppet!!

From: [identity profile] the-muppet.livejournal.com

Thanks for the link, I'll check it out =)

It's really, really warm now; bit of a shock to the system!

From: [identity profile] nicole9514.livejournal.com

i'm glad you have a date set hon and that you can be warm again.

i hate snow, it's snowing here right now. I've had that problem, they push all the snow right behind my car, it makes me so mad.

From: [identity profile] the-muppet.livejournal.com

I actually can't believe I finally have a date, but I'm sure it'll sink in soon enough =)

Hope the snow doesn't get too bad for you.

*hugs*

Sweetie, I am so happy you're warm now! And you have a date for the surgery. That's great news!

And I know the snow can be a pain and all, but it is so pretty.

*BIG HUG*

From: [identity profile] the-muppet.livejournal.com

Very warm! And I'm so relieved to finally have a date for the op, since I've waited so very long for this =)

*hugs muchly*

From: [identity profile] padfootie.livejournal.com

Snow is only fun when you can stay inside and have a working heater *hugs*

I just wanted to type that it's snowing here as well right now, but I think the snow has turned into rain and the streets are still frozen so... fun for all the car drivers. I skipped going to football today because of this (and I've gone for three years without ever missing a game). I hate this weather :(

From: [identity profile] the-muppet.livejournal.com

Absolutely!

And yes, it's great if you've nowhere to be or nothing to do, otherwise it's just a pain =/

Hopefully the annual UK Snowpocalypse will be over by then =)

Have heat now, which is good and I'm glad I finally have the op date =)

YAY! For heat...

The hospital thing is good yes? Best of luck anyway, hope that is everything you're hoping for.

Lovely photos, we've had about that much too and it's pretty unusual up here, mostly we miss the snow. Dog is enjoying it though and I've just left the car, hate driving in the ice, but it's rained most of the afternoon, so most has gone now.

From: [identity profile] the-muppet.livejournal.com

Hope your heat is now sorted?

So pleased to finally have a date for the op, waited such a long time for this!

I hate driving in it too, but thankfully it's mostly gone now.

*hugs*

Heat mostly, no radiator in the dining room as he broke the thread when he took it off to drain the system as the system drain valve was corroded, will have to wait for that to be fixed and the one radiator in the cat's bedroom is pretty cold, it won't bleed the air off, so I'm taking out the valve screw and poking it with a pin this morning... Hee - will most likely have a biblical flood by tomorrow!

Lot of snow has gone, but all the melt and the rain has frozen solid and everywhere is like a sheet of ice this morning - dog will not get a lift today, we'll be walking the golf course and not yet - I'm making her wait for it to thaw a little before I venture out.

Remind me again just before your op date, so I can send you good vibes.

**HUGS**

From: [identity profile] the-muppet.livejournal.com

Be careful with that - I did a similar thing in my lounge a while back and ended up with water EVERYWHERE!

Pretty much all thawed here and back to normal now. Even went into work today to try and get some cover planning in place for tomorrow =)

Take care sweetie and stay warm ♥

*hugs muchly*

1. Your icons, as always, are beautiful! I'll probably snag a few later. :D

2. Thank goodness! At long last. As much as I love the NHS, it doesn't have take forever to get things done. Will you be in hospital for long? WILL YOU NEED US TO SEND YOU STUFF TO KEEP YOU ENTERTAINED AND HAPPY??

3. Holy crap! No heating?! I hope you have some thermal underwear or something because I have been frozen for like two weeks now. D:

4. SNOW! I like the pictures - you had more of a snow fall than I did. North London didn't get tonnes and it all melted last night.

♥ I've missed you.

From: [identity profile] the-muppet.livejournal.com

1. Thanks love =)

2. I KNOW! Pretty excited actually, waited almost my whole damn life for this particular operation and it's hard to believe it's finally happening! Shouldn't be in hospital more than a few days, they like to get you out as quick as possible, but will be off work after that for about two weeks, with the splints staying in for a month, I think. YES, YOU MUST KEEP ME ENTERTAINED AND HAPPY AS I CAN BE A WHINY SICK PERSON!

4. We had a huge amount for down here, very unexpected!

That's so sweet ♥

*hugs very muchly*

I'm glad you have a date! I know you've really been looking forward to this surgery :-)

The snow is lovely :-) I can't wait til we get some here! (We were supposed to get some today, but no... fail.)

From: [identity profile] the-muppet.livejournal.com

I have! And I'm glad too =)

Most of the snow is gone now, which means I can drive safely again =)

*hugs*

From: [identity profile] vita-candeo.livejournal.com

As of right now, they're predicting 5-6 inches of snow here on the last day of classes... I foresee the campus being COVERED in snow angles, snow forts, snowball fights, and snowmen :-D

From: [identity profile] nimielle.livejournal.com

*sends you some massive hugs*

It's been snowing here in northern Germany ever since I got here on Tuesday, nothing has melted away and I've taken to wearing my hiking boots if the slight incline to go outside and enjoy the snow even remotely wins over the whole "stay in, cover yourself in blankets, drink tea and read crazy amounts of slash fiction" impulse. ;)

Let's hope it's not as bad in Cologne, when I get back tomorrow, do not fancy having to take the train to school in the mornings, cycling is so much nicer!

The icons you made were really lovely! I am still madly in love with the last one I took though and since my "extra userpics add on" ran out a month or so ago, I cannot add any new icons at the moment anyway.

I am so happy your heating is working again. I think I would have walked around my flat constantly wearing a weird combination of blankets and tons of thick woolen socks and stuff, turning on all the electrical equipment I could find and lighting as many candles as possible without lighting the furniture, just to generate a tiny amount of heat. Not heating in winter, not good, not good at all!

Sorry to hear you are unwell. I caught this really persistent incredibly fast working bug last Sunday and was so sick I couldn't even leave the house less than 24 hours later, so I feel your pain!

I am so glad you finally have a date for your operation. I hope it all goes well and I wish you all the best! ♥

*snuggles*
Much Love to you!

From: [identity profile] the-muppet.livejournal.com

Most place get far more impressive and substantial snow than we ever do, and I think are therefore far more prepared for it and cope with it far better than us!

I'm so glad you like the icons; thank you love ♥

It's very warm in this flat now, really toasty, though I whined a bit to Peter today that it's too warm now, and he says there's no pleasing me! He's probably right =)

I keep thinking it will pass and I'll feel better soon, and then I will for maybe a day or two, and think it's passing, then it'll just get worse again. Seeing my GP again on Tuesday, if it's still not shifted by then.

Thanks so much hon, I'm kind of looking forward to it finally happening =)

*hugs muchly*

LMAO, I just looked out of the window and it's snowing, tried taking a few pictures with my camera and they mostly look like I caught a swarm of fireflies or something. In Northern Germany we are very weather resistent. Snow, ice, rain, storm, whatever, we'll always go to work/school unless it's officially closed, which rarely happens, we'll usually take the bike or sometimes even walk. There's a saying here that goes "there's no such thing as bad weather, there's only unsuitable clothes" and that's probably the truest thing you can say about the people up here. Since I now live in mid Germany, I am SURROUNDED by weather-wimps! I swear! The slightest brease will keep people staying home and one snowflake will emediately cause the whole "OMG SNOW!!!!ELVENTYONE!1!!! WE HAVE TO SHUT EVERYTHING DOWN OR WE WILL DIE!!!" reaction. It's rather ridiculous really...

There is always something to complain about, I've been told that's part of the human condition ;)

I'll send you some of the healing vibes that helped me so far. Maybe that'll help.

I don't want to pry, re the accident and the operation, as I have no idea what happened and it's totally alright if you don't want to share. I still hope it all goes well and that the result will make you happy.

From: [identity profile] the-muppet.livejournal.com

We;re just as weedy in this country, particularly here on the South Coast, though in fairness it's because the authorities are NEVER prepared, even though they should be, so to venture out on our roads in snow or ics is to take your life into your hands!

V. short version - hit by a car when I was on a bike aged 6, was pretty messed up, not just my nose. They tried to fix my nose then and messed it up, and said I then had to wait till I was 16 and they'd do reconstructive surgery, put it all right. Since I was 16 have had 4 or 5 surgeries (lost count) and NONE of them were the reconstructive surgery I should have had, but instead were temporary bodge jobs (shoring it up inside, that kind of thing) and they all went wrong. Am now finally haviing the recsontructive surgery I should have had!

Good luck with your own snow!

From: [identity profile] rae1013.livejournal.com

1. Just commented. I've fallen behind again. *facepalm*

2. \o/ Hope it goes well for you. I'll definitely keep you in my thoughts. 2011 is the year for surgeries, it seems. I know 3 people having a procedure in January and I'm trying to schedule my gallbladder surgery for Feb. *fingerscrossed*

3. I am so jealous! There is no heat in my room. I've been existing with only an electric heater that I have to keep turning off in the morning and then try to quickly heat my room back up when I get home from work. I'm moving in January and there will be heat in ALL rooms. So excited!

4. Your snow pics are so pretty. Want some more snow? We're getting 1-3 inches overnight and I don't want it. I'm totally willing to send it your way. ;)

Take care bb, enjoy the holidays!

1) Thank you ♥

2) I've waited so very long for this, I can't believe it's finally happening!

3) It's definitely nice to have heating again, and heating that's so efficient; the flat has never been so warm!

4) Thank you - and no, I don't want any more snow!

Happy Holidays sweetie ♥

The snow pictures are lovely. I am sure the snow is a pain to deal with, especially if you and everyone around you is unused to it. Whenever it snows here I just kind of point and laugh, because the locals freak out so easily. I'd like to see what they would do with 3 ft of snow in April.

I am glad you finally have a date for the surgery. I am sure the waiting was the worst.

Yay for the new boiler! I am sure looking out at the snow is much more enjoyable now that the outside and inside temperatures are vastly different.

From: [identity profile] the-muppet.livejournal.com

The new boiler is very toasty indeed!

The snow here is now all gone, you'd never believe how deep is was only a few short days ago. So weird.

I'm very glad too about the operation date. Was starting to wonder if it'd ever happen!

*hugs*

From: [identity profile] kimberweeme.livejournal.com

SNOW! Real snow! We never get snow like this in Houston. If we did, the entire city would shut down out of fear of the apocalypse or something. We practically shut down for a tiny snow flurry where nothing sticks!

I'm sooooo glad your heating is working again. I was very worried about you, sitting in your apartment and freezing.

Hurrah for heating and snow and operation dates and winter icons! (I've looked at them, but haven't had time to comment as of yet.)

*hugs and hugs*

From: [identity profile] the-muppet.livejournal.com

It is indeed the Snowpocalypse, despite only lasting two days! Actually I was here at work yesterday - came in to try and get some cover stuff done - and your stocking of sweets came in very handy!

*hugs hard*
