Slightly grouchy

Put it down to the fact that I hate this weather, or th fact that I've had a stonking headache all weekend, but I just want to have a mini-whinge and get this out of my system.

It only takes a couple of seconds to type the words "thank you", right?  Something that's bugged me for a while is when people don't bother to respond to feedback they've been sent or left ~ this could be for a music video, icons, help with links, whatever.  If someone takes the time to leave/send feedback on something, or help out in some way, it's common courtesy to say thank you or acknowledge the feedback/help.  Now, I know some people get large amounts of feedback, but like I say, just typing two words (ie: thank you) isn't exactly going to take very long, is it?

For a while it's bugged me in relation to feedback I've left people that's not even been acknowledged and help that I've given/offered, but just lately I've spent a helluva long time helping many different people by uploading all kinds of stuff, across various fandoms, sharing links, etc, and whilst most of the recipients have been fantastic in thier response, a small few don't even bother with an acknowledgment .... or worse still, skip the "thanks" part and go straight to the "now I want" part (and yes, there is someone who has done this more than once to me recently).  And it really pisses me off.  As most of you know, I really like helping people out and will go out of my way a lot of the time to do what I can, and I will continue to do this.  But those people who've pushed me to actually voice this ~ no more.  I won't even bother naming them, they are only a very few, but next time they email me for help, or I see them requesting help, I will just skip past it.  Meh.  See now that makes me feel mean.  Meh.

Just for clarification ~ this rant in no way applies to ANYONE on my flist .... in fact some of you absolutely amaze me with your generosity  :)  I'm kinda cautious with 'friending' new people, but I think that I have an amazing bunch of people on my friends list xxx

OK, back to the sofa for me with a cold flannel, some water, and a bunch of Numb3rs episodes ~ ms_3m and midnighta helped create this monster obsession, and delgaserasca fueled the fire!

Hmmmm. Wonder if your ingrates have cousins??? LOL

One of my ingrates: A person posted on jackdaniel slash fic looking for a beta. After much gnashing of teeth and anguishing, I decided to offer help. She took me up. I spent oodles of time doing the beta. And while she did send me a rather short, terse Thank You email (and that was all she wrote).... there were no credits, no nothing when she got around to posting the fic. And the real pisser....she acted on a greater percentage of my comments. It's not like I need the glory or whatever, but when I read her comments to the feedback posted, she responded like her 'finished' story sprung out of her brain without needing any rewrite or beta work. And while she may write fantastic J/D fic, I won't be reading any of it.

I know this sounds whinny on my part, but it's repeat situations like this that has somewhat driven me out of fandomish kinda stuff. I've gotten more selective with my time and who I help. If I even get a hint of a person being a ingrate, then adios. I have other things to waste spend my time on. :)

I'm glad to know it's not just me! I really enjoy helping people, but have got a little tired the last few months of the very small percentage of people who are basically just taking the piss. And as mean as it may make me feel, I will, in future, be ignoring their request for help and concentrating instead on people for who it is a two-way process :)
