1) pigeons: Did I ever tell you about the time a couple of years ago that I woke up to find two pigeons in my lounge? I did the obvious thing you would do; I shut the door and rubbed vigorously at my eyes, in the belief that they would have disappeared when I re-opened the door. Amazingly this did not work and I then spent half an hour chasing them out of the flat and about another two hours cleaning up all the pigeon shit. Lovely. Anyway, came home from work Friday and Peter tells me he got up that morning to find a pigeon in the kitchen and that it had scared the crap out of him! I was fairly confident I'd traumatized the original two pigeons sifficiently by chasing them around the lounge in my pyjamas that they'd pass the word on and this wouldn't happen again. Would appear I was wrong and I'm thinking I may need to get some sort of screen for my kitchen window.

2) postcards: I got four postcards last week! Thanks so much to [livejournal.com profile] mrs_leary, [livejournal.com profile] bellasianna, [livejournal.com profile] nahara and [livejournal.com profile] starrylizard; I've added these to all the others on the wall in my office at work:

Sadly my giant fern seems to be covering a few so I'll have to move those! Pretty right? =)

3) computer: I MIGHT BE GETTING MY COMPUTER BACK TOMORROW!

1 + 2) Yay for postcards! You have a fab collection. :) And can I just say, I must have fantastic sixth sense or something because I seem to have channelled all your pigeon problems subconsciously. I did, after all, send you a postcard with pigeons on it. Weird, no?

3)That's excellent news!

From: [identity profile] the-muppet.livejournal.com

I'll tell Peter the pigeons are your fault yeah? Maybe then he'll stop closing all the damn windowns at night before he goes to bed, which in an attic flat is kind of stifling in the summer!

AM SO EXCITED!

*chuckles*

BLAME AWAY! I don't mind being your scapegoat. :P (Who knows... maybe it was my fault! Sent you pigeon vibes - and actual pigeons.)

From: [identity profile] the-muppet.livejournal.com

Well he blames me for absolutely everyting - including things I have NO CONTROL OVER WHATSOEVER - so it's nice to pin the blame elsewhere this time ;)

Take it from me - no such thing as a smart pigeon - they're all greedy, stubborn buggers. I regularly get them flying into the windows when they're SHUT and they leave perfect imprints on the glass, get up off the floor, shake and fly off. Even the cats have given up and dog couldn't give two shits about shifting them either.

Best of luck with the computer.

I really do hope they're not going to start trying to come in again; with being in an attic flat it's lovely to be able to leave all the windows wide open day and night. After the first time I pinned the net curtain to the window frame to deter them, so I guess I'll just have to do that again!

Could just be the time of year, the younger ones are looking for new perching/nesting spots and being up in the attic, you're more vulnerable to their stupid navigation problems.

Net curtain solution is a good one, closed windows are stifling at this time of year. Another thing you could try is hanging old CDs on strings in the window, they catch the light and breeze and are pretty good at deterring the things from crash landings which I expect is more your problem then them actually wanting to come in.

I love your postcard wall!!! It's so pretty and it makes writing postcards so much fun, because they are really appreciated!

Sorry I've been so MIA lately, uni, work and life just keep hogging all the time I used to spend online.

Hope you are doing good and the best of luck with the computer!

There must be at least couple of your cards on that wall =)

Nice to see you around ♥

OH PIGEONS. Stupid, even for birds! I'll have you know that, however, thiiss story when it's NOT you is hilaaaaaaaarious.

From: [identity profile] the-muppet.livejournal.com

The whole closing-the-door-and-rubbing-eyes thing to make them disappear was, I admit, a long shot.

From: [identity profile] vita-candeo.livejournal.com

Did you leave a window open or something? How the heck does a pigeon get into a flat?

From: [identity profile] the-muppet.livejournal.com

Attic flat, windows wide open constantly throughout summer, trees they used to live in chopped down, tem looking for a new home... NOT LIVING HERE!

From: [identity profile] vita-candeo.livejournal.com

But the bowls in our kitchen look like they could make good nests!

On another note: I have a simple solution. If you cut out objects from bits of paper, hang them from strings, and then tie them so they hang over the open window area, blowing in the breeze, then the pigeons should keep out (they don't like flying through moving objects. They're scary!)

You're going to need more wall soon for your postcard collection! :)

It's unfortunate pigeons don't seem to have morphic resonance, otherwise they'd know to stay away from your house! Silly birds...

Kate had the same problems with pigeons few days ago. And she has real phobia. I imagine I would be pretty scared too. Shep would probably hide under the bed ;)

1) Do you sleep with a window open? I can't do that because I'm paranoid. (Also, it's a million degrees outside.) But my family's cat sometimes used to catch birds and bring them in - alive. There was the one incident with the angry bluejay in the bathroom. That was not pretty.

2) I love your postcard wall! Are those killer whales I spy up there? At some point, I will make it to the post office and then...

3) *crosses fingers*

From: [identity profile] the-muppet.livejournal.com

Because I'm in a 3rd floor attic flat, it means I can have all the windows open day and night throughout the summer, else it would just get too hot and sticky. After the first time they came in, I pinned my nets to the window frame, so I guess I'll just have to do that again!

Yep, killer whales to intimidate me into working ;)

THE COMPUTER IS NOW IN THE BACK OF MY CAR READY TO TAKE HOME!

Bahaha the other day a pigeon flew into my window and then dropped out of sight, it scared the crap out of me and then I almost died laughing, hee!

Yay for getting your computer back!

From: [identity profile] the-muppet.livejournal.com

I'm hoping they at least stay away for your visit =)

Pigeons O_o I've met lone sparrows a couple of times coming home (and even those were brought by our late cats) but a pigeon would completely freak me out :) That's just unreal!

Did you get the computer? I'm having my fingers crossed for everything working fine this time :)

*squeezes*

From: [identity profile] the-muppet.livejournal.com

I have my computer back home and set up now, and it's just a case of reinstalling absolutely everything again. Which is actually more depressing than exciting right now.

*hugs*

From: [identity profile] prfctdaze.livejournal.com

Sweetie, I hope you got the computer back *crosses fingers*

Your wall is so pretty :)

Too bad rubbing your eyes didn't work with the pigeons. I think finding birds in my house would scare the crap out of me, too! The screen sounds like a good idea.

*huuuuugs*

From: [identity profile] starrylizard.livejournal.com

Yay for postcards. They look awesome.
I'm sorry you're having a tough time. If you can see me online, I'm always happy to distract any way I can. *hugs*
