1) computer: It hasn't even been a week and already my new computer is not working. I've no idea what's wrong with it and I've done so well so far in not getting ridiculously stressed out and upset about losing my original computer, losing everything on it, and spending hundreds of pound (via my ridiculously painful overdraft) on getting a new one built. So I'm trying not to get too worried too soon over this, either. Brian (who built it) is coming over after work this evening to take a look so he can see what it's doing and - hopefully - sorting it out. I really don't know what else to say about this at the moment, and I'm basically just trying to keep the panic at bay.

2) gym: I used to go to the gym local to my work, when I could afford it, and I loved it. Would go after work 3-4 times a week and felt really good for it, and have really missed being able to go. However, I think I may have found a new gym close to my flat that I might be able to afford. They're called FitSpace gyms and it looks really promising. It would help me get back in shape and also (and perhaps more importantly) would be a step towards overcoming my agrophobe issues, which have definitely worsened as of late. Will talk to Deb today and see if she's willing to join up with me.

3) peter: Peter, my youngest brother, has finally found himself a voluntary job at his local Oxfam shop. This is HUGE. Peter has autism and we've been trying for literally months and months to find him some work, paid or otherwise, and repeatedly we've got nowhere at all, despite all our best efforts. Those of you who know about Peter will appreciate what a huge deal this is, and I'm so very proud of him for finally finding something, as I know how much it will mean to him too.

Hope you're all doing okay ♥

I'm so happy about Peter! And how's his school going?

I also had to cut my pilates classes some time ago, but I didn't manage to find anything cheaper nearby. And exercising at home is just not the same, not to mention I always find excuses not to do it...

He finished college a year ago and since then myself and another lady called Tracey, who is his PCP co-ordinator, have worked tirelessly to try and find him a job of some description. It's been ridiculous and we've been completely unsuccessful, which was really starting to get him down, so even though it's only a couple of hours a week voluntary work in a charity shop, I'm really, really happy for him =)

I'm really hoping this gym thing works out!

I'm sure the computer thing is just a minor blip - **fingers crossed**

Am also sure that exercising is a good way to calm down - yeah, I know that sounds weird, but I swear it works, probably all that deep breathing or something...

YAY! for Peter! Small steps are sometimes the biggest and hopefully it'll be a starting point you can both build on.

**hugs**

I really hope so, and Brian seems confident he can fix it, so I'm just totally trusting in him right now.

I know! That's one of the reasons I used to love going to the gym so often, it was really calming =)

I'm so happy for him and proud of him; we've worked so hard for so long and although it's only a couple of hours a week voluntary work in a charity shop, it is a HUGE deal to him and I'm so happy for him =)

1) HUGS! Hope it works out.
2) I wish you lived near me. I need a gym buddy to motivate me.
3) Yay! I'm happy for him. :)

1) I hope that your computer will be fixed soon!!! (((((((good vibes))))))))

2) It'd be awsome if you could go that gym! *crosses fingers*

3) This is so AWSOME!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! <3 <3

*HUGS*

1) Arrgh... I hope the computer doctor fixes it up. The worst thing about a crashed computer isn't really about it dying but losing everything on it! Good luck with it all.

2) I've always admired people who go to the gym, myself.. never been motivated enough to join, and the repetitveness.. Good on you. Hope you stick with it!

3) Congrats to Peter for finding his job. No doubt this will bring to him a sense of acheivement.

1) He was here for 3 hours and couldn't fix it; it's looking pretty dire right now.

2) I always enjoyed the gym so I'm really hope we can set this up soon =)

3) Thank you =)

Gah, good luck on the computer. I hope the problem is easily fixed. *crossed fingers for you*

Having a partner for gym-going is an excellent idea. The support makes a huge difference.

Congrats to your brother! <3

It's not looking good right now I'm afraid. Trying not to think about it and am back using Peter's laptop.

Thanks hon ♥

I hope the new gym will be nice. Exercising helps with stress too, so hopefully that will be another beneficial effect :)

Also, big cheers for your brother! I'm glad that he was able to find an employer kind enough to give him a chance. I really hope he likes it there, and that it may lead to a paid position. Give him congratulations for me! :)

*hugs*

Sorry I've been "off the planet" for a while... but I'm home from college now, and should (theoretically) be here more :) *more hugs*

I always found the gym a great stress reliever =)

I'll pass on your congrats, thank you ♥

1) I have high hopes Brian fixes the problem in a snap! *crosses fingers and toes*

2) I hate exercising, but I am trying to be better about doing it. I automatically have a gym membership at the wellness center attached to the college I work at, but I'd rather walk outside. And I do much much better if I have a buddy to push me along, because otherwise I'll just sit on my bum and make excuses. I hope this new gym works out for you!

3) Congrats to Peter! Even a few hours a week is better than nothing. And who knows? Maybe he'll be so great at it, that they'll hire him on. It will at least give him good experience for any future job.

*hugs*

1) Well he was here for 2 1/2 hours and it's not looking too good, so he's taken it home with him now. Trying not to freak out too much.

2) My curretn stupid agrophobe state means that much as I'd love to go out for a walk on the beach - which is on my doorstep - I just can't make myself do it. I think the gym will do me good in more ways than one though =)

3) Thanks hon =)

Woot! Go Peter! That really is great news; he must be pretty happy about it :)

I used to have a gym attached to the apartment I lived in in Chicago and enjoyed going when I wasn't making excuses not to go :) Now, I'm just waiting for the weather to be nice again so I can walk outside on my day off. Along the pavement, where bears are unlikely.

Fingers crossed for your comp to get fixed soon! Ugh.

From: [identity profile] the-muppet.livejournal.com

Yeah he's pretty happy and I'm so proud of him =)

Computer isn't looking too good right now; Brian was here for 2 1/2 hours trying to fix it and it's looking pretty dire, so he's taken it home to work on it, which means relying on Peter's laptop and the work computer again for the next few days.

I hope things will sort out with that new comp of yours. Those gyms look fantastic and they are so cheap. Gyms are horrendously expensive in Vienna. 60 Euros is normal and that doesn't even include the one time membership fee that most ask. Some clubs also only offer annual fees and declare that 450 Euros is cheap.....Right -_- Congrats to your brother. I didn't know that you have a brother who has autism! It is really wonderful that he found a place to work.

From: [identity profile] the-muppet.livejournal.com

I really hope so too, though he's not managed to fix it so far and has had to take it home with him to work on some more.

I've never seen a gym membership that cheap so me and Deb are really excited about it =)

Thank you, he's pleased with himself and I'm very proud of him =)

Sorry about the computer problems. That stinks. :( But that's awesome about your brother!! It makes me really happy. :)

(1) I missed this but I am really sorry for that. It's one of my nightmares to lose my laptop... hope you computer is ok.

(2) I'm pretty strapped but I need to keep my gym membership for the healthy reasons but also I think it keeps me a little bit sane. I hope teh FitSpace Gym works out for you.

(3) That's great news. I didn't know your brother had autism, but I am really glad to hear that he has found a job and I hope it is a success for him.

(4) Yes, I know you didn't have a four but ... ;) Sorry for not being aroundmuch lately, but you've not been forgotten. I actually bought a post card to send you last week... and yet again I have not got around to sending it... but I will and it will be a surprise heeheehe

Hope you're well hon.

Thanks so much hon, and it's lovely to hear from you ♥

I hope it was nothing serious with the computer? And if it was due some sort of factory flaw, all the parts should still have some sort of warranty, shouldn't they? It's awful that you are having such a bad luck with it :(

Having something meaningful to do is an enormous thing, I'm glad to hear your brother got that job :)

*squeezes*

Faulty graphics card, so am looking at about a 10 day turnaround before getting the computer back, so it'll all be okay eventually =)

I'm glad to hear it wasn't anything worse :)

Oh, sweetie, I didn't know about your brother. That's terrific he's found a job. Really wonderful news!

*hugs*

He started yesterday and sounded very nervous when I phoned him; I'm picking his up for the weekend tonight so hopefully he'll tell me all about it and I'm very proud of him =)
