1) fic rec: I know I haven't recced in a while and I'm ridiculously late in reccing this particular story, but if you've not yet read Think Less and See It Grow then you really, really should. It's a Merlin/Arthur boarding school AU and it's totally wonderful ♥

2) new moon: Went to see New Moon last Friday and can't decide whether I'm relieved it was better than Twilight (which was truly atrocious) or disappointed that it wasn't as crackily bad as the book. Either way, Kristen Stewart still can't act at all.

3) lottery: I won the lottery! Sort of. My friend Sam put a lucky dip lottery ticket in my birthday card and I got 4/6 numbers. That'd normally be about £70 apparently but so many people won that day it was £19 - which is still pretty wonderful =)

4) bradley/colin: Really enjoyed the triple bill of Merlin/Bradley & Colin this weekend - could they be any more adorkable?

5) flist cut: Did another flist cut this weekend. Hate doing them. Still wussed out and didn't cut as many as I was going to. Am equally wussy when wanting to friend new people too. Why so pathetic, me?

I'm glad that New Moon was better (but saying that it couldn't have been worse)

And congrats on you win. I keep thinking about playing the lottery, but then I think the money I spend on tickets could go on something else.

From: [identity profile] the-muppet.livejournal.com

You're right of course, there's really no way it could have been worse than Twilight =) I was laughing quite a lot during New Moon at bits that clearly weren't meant to be funny, but luckily there were quite a few others in the cinema also not taking it too seriously like myself =)

I was well chuffed with the lottery win as I don't play myself and honestly didn't think I'd match any numbers; lovely surprise =)

eeh, i can't wait to watch the colin/bradley honeymoon road trip thingy! was it as awesome as i hope it was?

& i think i'm just as shy as you when it comes to friending/defriending people. i always think ages about it until i actually manage to friend anyone... and then sometimes i don't manage it at all :/

also: WHEE! you won the lottery :D that sounds awesome!

From: [identity profile] the-muppet.livejournal.com

The honymoon road trip was bloody great; you're going to love it =)

I'm so pathetic about friending new people that often I end up debating it for so long and then just end up not doing it. Me = total wuss.

Am very happy with my lottery winnings =)

Kristen Stewart still can't act at all.

Oh good. I'm not the only one who thinks so.

I'm still undecided as to whether to see New Moon or not. And not because want to see it, but more just to be up with all the stuff my school kids are talking about. Honestly... they come up to me ask if I'm Team Edward or Team Jacob. I say... Well. Who has the hottest body?? Um... Hee! That shuts them up pretty quick.... (They say Jacob but they also say he's too young for me so I'd be better to go for Edward. HA!)

And yay for winning money on your birthday!! I hope you had a good one darlin'.

So I'm kinda curious about flist cutting. I've never done it, (well, one person) but I just leave it alone. I forget about it mostly. Is it to make your friends page more manageable? I suppose I should look at it..... I think I'm a wuss too actually.

I think she's awful in both these films; okay not as much in New Moon as she was in Twilight< maybe. But still...

Flist cutting: it really is to make the reading more manageable plus if you constantly skip past certain people's entries all the time and never read them - and they never interact with you either - then what's the point keeping them on your flist. My flist is about the stuff I'm interested in reading and who I want to share stuff with, not how many 'friends' I've got - I'd rather do flist cuts (even though I hate them) than keep skimming some people's entries because I just don't read them anymore. I probably should have cut more people too this time round, but like I said; I'm a wuss =)

2) I have now seen New Moon twice and I just can't get behind it. It's the most awkward movie I've ever seen. The second time I went with two of my girl cousins (both teenagers). One of them is in love with anything related to the books and movies. Every scene I thought I was particularly awkward, she would say, "This is my favorite scene!" By the end, I was just laughing at her instead of paying attention. Silly girl!

(Team Mike Newton, all the way!)

3) Hurrah for surprise money!

4) BOYS!

*hugs*

2) I honestly thought Twilight was way more awkward than New Moon is - and I found New Moon way more amusing! Personally I'm Team Charlie I think - he's pretty fantastic really, though I must admit that when I read the last book I was all Team Seth (and probably the only one too!)

4) Weren't though both just adorkable?!

Yay for winning the lottery! And £19 is much better than nothing =)

It's good to hear "New Moon" is not that bad. I have no idea how KS could go through any screen tests and be the best of other possible actresses. It's truly beyond my imagination ;)

From: [identity profile] the-muppet.livejournal.com

£19 was fantastic; I honestly expected nothing =)

New Moon was a better film that Twilight for sure and I'm also glad I wasn't the only one in the cinema chuckling in inappropriate places and not taking it at all seriously ;)

I have no idea how KS could go through any screen tests and be the best of other possible actresses. It's truly beyond my imagination.

I'm glad to know it's not just me with that particular opinion.

Woot, lottery! That's so cool.

The roadtrip needed to have been an hour and a half longer! I could just watch them, forever, really. And the return of 'You're The Voice' in S&M (S&M, TEEHEE *is twelve*)! I watched the end of that bit about a dozen times. John Farmer, oh Colin! HEE.

I've only got a handful of friends so I've never had to do a cut, but I'm with you on being wussy about friending people! Even though there's really nothing at stake it still seems like such a Big Decision.

From: [identity profile] the-muppet.livejournal.com

Half an hour just wasn't long enough at all - could've definitely done with longer; hopefully it'll prove so popular that they'll do more =)

And the return of 'You're The Voice' in S&M...I watched the end of that bit about a dozen times.

Me too =)

I'm with you on being wussy about friending people! Even though there's really nothing at stake it still seems like such a Big Decision.

I know, right?! Took me ages to friend you, for example =)

And with any luck, they'll have more time to travel all over and not arrive everywhere too late to see anything! :)

Took me ages to friend you, for example =)

Aw, I'm super glad you took the plunge there! ♥

And with any luck, they'll have more time to travel all over and not arrive everywhere too late to see anything!

That was hilarious - I'm not even sure they acheived anything they actually set out to acheive!

Aw, I'm super glad you took the plunge there!

Definitely one of my best decisions there ♥

yay for the lottery win!!

all the bradley/colin stuff was too good this weekend. i'm all squeed out. yet, there is more coming tomorrow :D

From: [identity profile] the-muppet.livejournal.com

It was like an overdose of B/C and it was great!

Tomorrow? I'm going to assume you mean Wednesday (Paul O'Grady show)?

From: [identity profile] coffeejunkii.livejournal.com

oh, yeah, that's what i mean! for some reason i thought it was tomorrow. i suppose i can wait an additional day ;)

From: [identity profile] the-muppet.livejournal.com

You're clearly just excited about it; and O/D of Bradley & Colin will do that to you =)

From: [identity profile] aramley.livejournal.com

I'm going to see New Moon on Wednesday and I'm crazy excited. Slightly disappointed to hear that it's not as cracktastic as the book, though.

Yay lottery win! Unexpected money is the best kind! :D

Oh, I'm so with you on the flist terror. I've never done a flist cut, but I'd be just the same, and it takes me so long to work up the nerve to friend new people I usually just end up not doing it and being a scary lurker instead D:

From: [identity profile] the-muppet.livejournal.com

You and I will have to see one together one day. And nope, not as cracktastic as the book, but then New Moon was probably the least cracktastic of the four... ?

I'm so glad to know it's not just me who's a wuss at flist cuts and friending!

From: [identity profile] lilithilien.livejournal.com

Woohoo! The Merlin/boys stuff felt like fandom had won the lottery -- it's awesome that you got £19 on top of that too! (Just wondering, did you ever get your bday card? I posted it over two weeks ago so it should've arrived by now. It should've arrived by your birthday, I would've thought, but apparently mail crosses the Atlantic on a rowboat these days.)

I'm so cautious about friending new people too -- what's with that?

From: [identity profile] the-muppet.livejournal.com

Just wondering, did you ever get your bday card?

No I didn't! I'd have thanked you if I had - I'll let you know when it arrives =)

Gah, that's what I was afraid of! I swear, Canada Post has the absolute worst service in the world!

*hugs and sends tons of belated birthday wishes*

From: [identity profile] vita-candeo.livejournal.com

@2 - I think I might be one of the few remaining people on the planet who hasn't read any of the books nor seen the films..

@3 - awesome :D It's always good to win, even if it's not that much :) Profit is profit (and it's ALL profit since it was a gift!)

**hugs**

From: [identity profile] the-muppet.livejournal.com

2) My good friend [livejournal.com profile] aramley and I enoy the books for the bad crack!fic they are and mock them mercilessly. That way they're thoroughly enjoyable =)

3) Most definitely!

*hugs muchly*

From: [identity profile] vita-candeo.livejournal.com

2 - Yeah, that's kinda what I figure I would read/watch them for. I know a couple people who have read the Harry Potter series and the Twilight series, and they have all said the HP series is actually well thought out story lines and enjoyable, and the Twilight series tries way too hard to be Harry Potter, yet not Harry Potter, and fails MISERABLY! And, like you said, it's basically a crack!fic series of books. It's defiantly a book that's most enjoyable for tweens (yes, tweens, not teens), according to my friends. Yet, they said it was kinda worth reading for how crack it was *lol*

From: [identity profile] mir8lle.livejournal.com

Hey, 19 quid is 19 quid - you could treat yourself to a highly respectable lunch OR a ton of chocolate. :D

From: [identity profile] prfctdaze.livejournal.com

Thanks for the fic rec. I'm very far behind in my reading but I'll add it to my list :)

I haven't read nor seen any of the Twilight series. I just...I don't know. I heard not-so-favorable things about the books and it kind of put me off the films. But, hey, cracky entertainment has its merits ^_^

Woot! for lottery winnings :D

OMG! I'm still reeling over the Merlin fandom goodness from the past couple of days. Just when I think they can't be any more appealing to me, I find out they can, in fact.

I like a smaller friends list. Not so much because it's more manageable (even though it is) but I want to have interaction with the people on my list. I have wussed out, though, lately, on friending a couple of people I think are interesting. They are in the Merlin fandom but I still feel like I'm on the fringe of the fandom. So I'm hesitant to branch out. You are my only LJ friend who is really into Merlin. Most everyone else is just like, "Oh, that's nice...blah, blah, whatever" when I post about anything Merlin related. Oh, well.

I'm glad you're on my flist! *hugs*

From: [identity profile] the-muppet.livejournal.com

I'm not saving anywhere near as many as I was; don't know if I'm just getting choosy or there is less stuff out there that appeals to me. This though, this is amazing ♥

If you read the Twilight series as bad crack!fic and don't take it at all seriously, it can be highly amusing =)

I know what you mean; just when you think that Bradley & Colin can't possibly be any more adorkable... they are!

Not so much because it's more manageable (even though it is) but I want to have interaction with the people on my list.

It's really both those reasons for me - I hate scrolling past the same posts every time plus I want to be interacting with my flist, otherwise what's the point of having them around?

I'm glad to be your Merlin person!

*hugs muchly*

From: [identity profile] psycho-warbaby.livejournal.com

I still haven't tried/succumb to Twilight yet.. I've heard the books are pretty good but the movie is truely atrocious! I won't write it off just yet, after all I got into Harry Potter after the first movie came out, even though it wasn't the greatest.. maybe a bit later when I've got more time on my hands!

Congrats on the lottery!!! $19 is better than nothing! (sorry I don't have the symbol for pounds on easy access on this computer)

I still haven't seen the road trip/legend or merlin and arthur.. I really should get to it!! Again time is a factor.. I'm doing 113hr fortnights (that are paid... plus extra overtime!!) and tomorrow I'm on for a 16 hours shift :S

Glad it sounds like your week is much better than mine!

From: [identity profile] the-muppet.livejournal.com

I think if you read the Twilight books as bad crack!fic you'll enjoy them; try to take them at all seriously and you'll hate them =)

£19 is great, I was well chuffed =)

Sorry to hear you're so busy right now; hope the money at the end of it will make it all worthwhile though - plus you'll have lots of Merlin goodies to catch up with when you're finished, so something else to look forward to =)

*hugs*
