The books aren't hard reads. I'm not a super-fast reader and I can read the first one in a week in spare time (in a waiting room/before bed/etc.) They're fun to read, and you get loads more out of them. I think you'd like them :) You like the Twilight series, right? A lot of people who love one love the other ;)
