Thanks so much to all of you who commented earlier - much appreciated =)

I've now re-added the profile layout code to the bio section so could any/all of you please just go check out my profile page and tell me if it looks okay or if it's all screwed up again? Yesterday FireFox users were having trouble viewing it and this is what they were seeing...

See how the blue bar at the top has got squidged down and is covering some of my profile information? Is it still doing that or does it look okay now? If you could also tell me if you're using IE or FireFox that might be a help.

Thanks so much all =)

EDIT: Okay now I really do need help as apparently now I've put the code back in, it's re-doing the stupid thing it was doing before. *headdesk* Here's the link to where I got the layout code from and if anyone wants to take a look - if they think they can help- I'll happily email them the original code and the adapted code to compare.

Obviously I'm doing something really stupid... so I hope one of you can help =(

how strange, it's doing it again... what's the code you're using? (i'm not a genius at html/css, but maybe someone else will know what the problem is)

I'd be curious to look at your adapted code... I wonder if your adapted code is overriding the global template -- that would be very unusual, but it would be good to check. paxm89 [at] gmail [dot] com if you want! :)

Emailing you right now - and thank you so, so much! Let me know if the email arrives, could you? I'll include the original too - and remember - I'm a complete IT-idiot so clearly I've screwed it up somewhere as I really have no idea what I'm doing =)

Ignore the user name! It's my "construction" account that I use to test code. I think I fixed it. Check it here...

http://pax99.livejournal.com/profile

I found a stray piece of code in there that shouldn't have been there. If it looks the way that you want it to look, let me know and I'll send you the code back. :)

From: [identity profile] pax99.livejournal.com

Eeeps. Sorry. Fixed it now! I noticed I was missing the "me" part. It's there now. :)

From: [identity profile] the-muppet.livejournal.com

Almost... on mine the info is aligned like this...

http://the-muppet.livejournal.com/profile

Plus there are gaps in the 'me' text on your one... ?

Also - it's going to look fine to me (at the top of the page) as it always did, as I view it in IE - apparently it's only the people using FireFox that were having trouble and I don't use that - so does it look okay at the top for you when you view it in FireFox? Sorry if I'm not making much sense, am ridiculously tired tonight =) x

I still see the gap in your profile page at the top when I use IE (7.0.6).

Gaps... Ah... yes... I see... let me try again...

Throw out the email I just sent you!

From: [identity profile] the-muppet.livejournal.com

By gap you mean you can see it all as it should be? See I use IE and it's always looked fine - apparently it's only when it's viewed in FireFox that it goes all weird =/

I haven't got an email from you...

From: [identity profile] the-muppet.livejournal.com

Okay this is weird by I've just had a comment from another lister on my last post about it and she said she's looking at it in FireFox and it looks fine - she included this screencap:

http://www.mediafire.com/imageview.php?quickkey=tnlyjwrt2ti&thumb=5

How is she the only one using FireFox who can see it okay?!

Okay, that is weird. Also, here's my IE screenshot:

http://pics.livejournal.com/paxm/pic/003cr083

I'm going to tinker with the code and see if I can get it justified properly.

From: [identity profile] the-muppet.livejournal.com

So you can't see it properly in IE?

*sighs*

Diod you get the email I just sent? It will either a) make life a helluva lot easier or b) make you want to smack me...

I'm sorry you're still fighting this. I hope someone will figure out what's happening.
Or maybe you ask the person who created it in the first place? Maybe someone had the same problem before?

Yeah, I did think of that and if none of my IT-smarts flist can solve it I may contact them - or just delete it and try something else... though I do like it so I'd rather keep it if I can =)

From: [identity profile] lilithilien.livejournal.com

Weirdness, I had no idea you *could* do anything to LJ's global code like that. I'm sucky at coding so I'll just say IT MUST BE MAGIC!!

*cuddles you while the IT folks figure out the problem*

From: [identity profile] redphoniex.livejournal.com

i went and changed my header and wiped out everything. the comm i got my code from isn't around anymore and i didn't have it copied down anywhere. *sigh*

From: [identity profile] the-muppet.livejournal.com

I think one of my flisters might have fixed it... just waiting to see =)

Hey - it's around 9.30 now and I've just had a look with Firefox and everything you had a problem with is now looking ok to me.

I've done a couple of screencaps so you can see - I use a different L/J header. Only thing, I have a widescreen monitor and as you can see better from the second cap your bio picture is all the way over on the left and the text is all the way over on the right - no problem as such it is all visible, but I thought I'd let you know how it looks from here.

http://www.mediafire.com/imageview.php?quickkey=tnlyjwrt2ti&thumb=5
http://www.mediafire.com/imageview.php?quickkey=nrxdym1mqnt&thumb=5

I've loaded them up to view on Mediafire and not posted them here directly as they're rather large...

Hope that helps.

From: [identity profile] the-muppet.livejournal.com

It's weird that so far you're the only one using FireFox that can see it with no problems!

The left/right layout was what I intended - I guess it looks so much further apart on yours because of the widescreen maybe? I don't know, but yeah, that's intentional =)

Thanks for the screencaps - Paz is working on fixing it for me right now so that's a big help =) xx

Maybe it's because I've chosen that l/j header? Eeep, really, I'm kinda guessing here.

Yep, as long as you've designed it to be on one side and then the other, then it's fine, switching to a wide screen monitor can make things a little strange at first, but I get used to it, just wanted you to see what I was seeing and everything is visible, not as though I have to scroll across or anything.

Hope you get it sorted, haven't checked my flist yet, so if you're posted another test I haven't found it yet, but never hesitate to ask for a check it's no bother, only sorry I can't help you with the code.

Best of luck. :))

**hugs**

From: [identity profile] the-muppet.livejournal.com

I changed the alignment because of what your screenshot looked like - it's all done now =)

From: [identity profile] suzyx.livejournal.com

Wow, did you get it figured out? That is so weird. I'm an idiot with profile codes, I tell ya.

From: [identity profile] the-muppet.livejournal.com

Nope, not yet - [livejournal.com profile] paxm is working on fixing it - actually I think we're probably going to change it from how I wanted it.

Weirdly enough though, at least one flister can see what's currently there okay in FF, whereas no-one else can!

From: [identity profile] vita-candeo.livejournal.com

I am using Firefox version 3.0.8 with updates and some add-ons.

It is perfectly fine for me :)

Also, I didn't know you knew Polish (or did I guess the language wrong...?) Or are you trying to learn it so have things set to that language?

From: [identity profile] the-muppet.livejournal.com

That's cos the new, fixed, shiny version is mow up, so hopefully no more problems =)

Polish?

From: [identity profile] vita-candeo.livejournal.com

Guess I was late on the uptake *lol*

The screen capture you posted of the problem, the text wasn't in English. What language was it?
