You should just be able to edit the entry and put the 'future' date at the top, then click on save entry.

For your next entries, you shouldn't have to click that backdate box.

As far as the calendar ...depending on the layout, it shows the most recent entry, so if you post something in 2010, that's the calendar that shows. I get around that by dating my sticky post for the end of the current month, and just change it (if I remember) every month.

If you have that auto back date entry thing checked, that might be what is messing up the rest of the journal.
