Merlin big bang challenge.

I've been trying to contact the maintainers of boxofmagic through email and PM's to find out if it's running this year but have had no reply from any of them.

I'm still hopeful that one of them will reply and that boxofmagic itself will run this year, but if not, would anyone here be interested if I set up another Merlin fic big bang challenge community?

Just generally really asking what support there would be for such a community and what interest there would be in participating. So am going to include a poll below and also leave this post open so that those of you who are interested in this idea - in whatever capacity - could perhaps ask their own flists to consider this and then point them in the direction of the poll. So feel free to please ask your own flisters if they're interested and ask them to vote too so we can get a better idea if this is wanted or not; thank you =)

What I absolutely do not want to do is tread on anyone's toes here, and obviously what would make me happiest is if boxofmagic itself ran again this year. However if that can't happen for whatever reason, I'd like to try and enable some kind of Merlin big bang challenge to take place if I can.

Ha, no worries! I'd always vaguely planned for a Spring start-schedule, but I didn't actually...mention that in the poll, so the confusion is understandable. Rules are written! Co-mods are procured! Breathe! :)

PS: I am very glad to see people are so excited. :) And the other two people listed as mods on the comm actually have nothing to do with the challenge any longer so you're just stuck with me answering emails, and I've been at quarter end at work. *g*

You say you had "vaguely" planned for a Spring start-schedule - yet we still have no information as to when that will be? Is there a date we should be keeping an eye out for? This month? Next? The one after?

I was kind of hoping there would be an update over at boxofmagic, but alas, there is nothing. Still. Can we have something more to go on, please?

I think that you should let the_muppet and others who are willing to do it, DO IT, because we would like to see it happen.

Hi, random Merlin fan here! 

I just wanted to ask if you know anything more about the Big Bang challenge. Has the mod given you something more specific than “I have something planned for spring”? I tried to contact her recently and ask directly but she seems to be off-line (her last public post is from April 17). And, I hope you don’t mind me asking this, would you be willing to take up the subject again (seeing that you already done the poll and got people talking about it at one point)? I’m sure there will be a lot of people interested in helping out with the organization of the actual challenge (they we’ve said as much both here and on the big bang comm). I would start organizing it myself, but I’m just a lurker, and I’m also currently trying to finish my MA which really limits the amount of my free time at the moment. But I would be more than willing to help with anything, of course.

I’m sorry for being so forward about it and putting you on the spot, but the whole situation seems rather ridiculous to me, considering how many people want this challenge to happen, and we are quickly approaching the moment where it will be too late for any challenge like this to take place ‘cause authors will not be able to complete their fics before S3 starts (and canon changes).

Of course, I understand if you prefer not to take any actions. I’ve just thought that there is no harm in asking. Again, I hope you don’t mind.
