I did find one of the tutorials that definitely helped me: http://community.livejournal.com/le_mot_art/6550.html#cutid1 That technique quite useful should you ever want to cut something out or to melt two pictures into one... Not really necessary if you only wanna make icons, so I'm not sure if this really helps you xD
There were others, but I can't find them at the moment - I'll continue looking though ;)
