I've personally had much better experiences with personally built computers than ready-made computers, so I fully agree with your choice :) When you do it that way you don't have to pay for the not-quite-good-enough pieces you would have had to exchange anyway and you also don't have to pay extra for stuff that's way better than what you actually need :) And at least around here there's usually so much useless stuff thrown in to make it seem like a good buy, when in actuality the extra stuff just doesn't sell on its own but gives them a good excuse to raise the price a bit... Although with self-built computers (or with changing parts to store-bought one) it's always good to remember that "You can't put it in wrong" is sometimes way too optimistic a statement :P Just saying in case you feel any urge to offer to help to put it together :) I sure won't do that mistake for a second time...
