Merlin big bang challenge.

I've been trying to contact the maintainers of boxofmagic through email and PM's to find out if it's running this year but have had no reply from any of them.

I'm still hopeful that one of them will reply and that boxofmagic itself will run this year, but if not, would anyone here be interested if I set up another Merlin fic big bang challenge community?

Just generally really asking what support there would be for such a community and what interest there would be in participating. So am going to include a poll below and also leave this post open so that those of you who are interested in this idea - in whatever capacity - could perhaps ask their own flists to consider this and then point them in the direction of the poll. So feel free to please ask your own flisters if they're interested and ask them to vote too so we can get a better idea if this is wanted or not; thank you =)

What I absolutely do not want to do is tread on anyone's toes here, and obviously what would make me happiest is if boxofmagic itself ran again this year. However if that can't happen for whatever reason, I'd like to try and enable some kind of Merlin big bang challenge to take place if I can.

I'd sign up as an artist. Though I was wondering if you'd tweek the rules and how it worked a bit? Honestly I found it sort of confusing last year. Then again I'm used to how SPN runs it.

I'm so glad to know I wasn't the only one. Some of the rules confused me as well. Like how condescending the rules for artists were. Like quality over quantity but if you WROTE more you got two artists? IDK, since I'm not a writer I some times feel a little like the artists are unimportant in challenges and that's why I liked BigBang it always felt like the writer and artist were both extremely important. But when I was following the Merlin Bigbang Last year they just seemed to get the short end of the stick with the layout and such.

Ohh, I remember that. Yeah - that was a big *pfft* type thing for me. I do art on occasion and didn't get the point of that. Plus, I did a bigbang last year and the author and I got along really well, it was definitely a cooperative process for us.

If you haven't seen it already you might want to check out ladiesbigbang over on Dreamwidth. They're making a real effort to put everyone on the same level no matter what medium they work in. So it's interesting to see how it's set up, even if you don't end up participating.

Even though it's missing my favorite element (working with someone else) that's amazing. A REAL art challenge. I could tell a whole story in manips since I'm just an awful writer.

I'd definitely want the people who sign up as artists to say how *they* would like to see their work involved, so any/all ideas and suggestion you have would be most welcome.

That rules. I'm really excited for this now. You seem to really care about the art part of this challenge and I wasn't feeling that from boxofmagic.
