Groundhog day #53

Pinnacle is being a bitch this morning ...... again.  Shocker, huh?  It was OKish yesterday in that it was slow at times but at least wasn't crashing, but this morning it crashes as soon as you try to add a clip.  I'm about 1m 20s into my SPN vid and haven't even started my SGA vids.  I'm trying not to get too wound up about it, so am off to play tennis then will try again after lunch.

Seriously, though, how patient have I been with this and how long have I tried to fix it?

Me too as I've had the idea for such a long time! But I feel now that the first half is what I wanted it to be, but the 2nd half (or what is done of it so far) will be clips I just made do with rather than carefully selected, just to get it finished before it crashes again. Still, if I even get it finished I'll be pleased ~ hopefully tomorrow as I have about 30s left to do :)

I was going to post in your LJ today....then didn't as, well, we don't chat much, but just wanted to say hope things at work improve soon for you :)

wow you make vids quickly. It takes me twice as long..though most of that is finding the clips I want to use sadly there is no easy way to do that portion.

and thanks for the support. :) lately I've felt hesitant to post in my LJ about work complaints but...generally speaking I do feel better after getting it written out in my LJ. Anyway, it feels weird knowing a lot of people friended my journal for story recs and except for story recs I'm generally bitching about one thing or another. :) Maybe I should post good news type stuff too. (though on most nights I barely have time to do the recs...) um i'm rambling..but i'm at work and nothing is happening and not many of my friends are on IM so you get the long rambly post. sorry. :)

Lol no problem! It's therapeutic to offload (apparently) so don't apologise for it ~ if people want to read it they can, if they want to offer support, they will. Actually, I even read a couple of your recs recently (SGA ~ can't remember which) and I realy don't read ff!

Got much longer at work?

I'm here for another 3 hours. I work from 10am to 7pm Central Standard. it's getting near the end of the day...i've been studying AVS scripts and reading up on it because I plan on teaching myself how to use Adobe Premiere and apparently AVsynth is very important.

Adobe Premiere can't import AVI files but...it can import AVS files. Basically you can do all your clipping for a music video in a notepad file, save it as AVS import that into Adobe Premiere and then add your effects and move your clips around. Avsynth basically tricks the program into thinking it's uploading something else..at least that's how I understand it. I'm interested in going towards Premiere because it has a lot of features I like...but I'm still kind of waffling at the moment. Media Studio Pro also has wav form view and you can store libraries....it's just when you split by scene an episode into a library the program takes FOREVER to load...and it doesn't have a storyboard view, which I know sounds like a weird thing to want in a video editor but the timeline view squishes everything together and it's hard to see what clip you put in there.

Oh, I tried using this a while back with Adobe Premiere! It didn't like my XviD rips, so I tried out DivX and it worked okay until I tried to render the movie. It didn't like rendering and crashed. I still don't really know why... and gave up. :$ I'm so lost at the moment with vidding, nothing seems to work for me!

Right now I'm experimenting with Sony Vegas 6.0...but with xvid avi files I had the best results with Ulead Video Studio 9 and MediaStudio Pro.

Oy.

I never thought vidding could get so frustrating. I'm having my own ripping problems at the mo'. I really do want to chuck my laptop out the window...

I hope it starts behaving itself. :)

*hugs*

What program are you using???? because I've had nothing but one problem after another learning how to vid. :) I find various aspects of vidding frustrating but...it's worth the effort. :)

I used to use 1Click-DVD-Ripper, which was fine, but then I discovered XMPEG. I ripped the DVD using DVD Decrypter then converted the ripped vob using XMPEG. It worked really well and I was pleased with the end avi file...

...however, after I wiped my laptop (because it was just getting cluttered and needed a clean) and re-installed XMPEG, all it does is crash when I try to convert. No idea why.

When I reinstalled 1Click-DVD-Ripper, it worked, but the output file has a different quality and resolution as well as average file size to the ones I ripped previously, and I'm a pedantic little bugger when it comes to things like that!
