Dumb ass question time

OK, time for me to look stupid (again!)  In order for me to keep THIS POST at the top of my journal I need to give it a future date, right?  Which, btw, I did, then things started going screwy  :/   Then if I do that, any future posts I make I have to click the backdate button when posting, yes?  Plus my calender then goes screwy (last time I dated the entry 2010 so that's what my calender shows) ~ any way round this, cos I'm sure I've seen it OK on other people's journals who've done this?  Is this all OK, or am I doing something wrong or missing something out?  For those of you that have done this, is this how you did it?

Also, anyone seen a SPN  "partly friends only" banner I could use yet?

Let's assume I'm completely clueless, shall we? Seriously, let's. I got the code for the header from s2howto and just pasted it where it needed to go ~ all I did was adjust the height. So I can copy and paste pretty well, if that helps! :D

Oh, don't worry about code for the little things I was moaning about, I don't really need them, thanks ;)
