5 things and a photo.

1) hair: Getting my hair cut tomorrow for the first time in a year. My hairdresser (Greg) asked my friend when she was in last week if I look glamorous now with long hair. *snorts* Not the word I'd use and he'll clearly see how mistaken that assumption is when I walk in tomorrow ;)

2) recs: It's a while since I recced any Merlin or Colin/Bradley fics so I just want to point anyone who's interested in the direction of my Delicious bookmarks. I've only actually bookmarked 9 fics since boxofmagic in the summer so not much to see but the ones I have bookmarked I've totally adored ♥

3) yuletide fail: You all know how much I love sending you cards/postcards/stuff but sadly I'm so poor right now that there's really no way I can afford to send out any Christmas/holiday cards this year for which I'm sorry. Please do not feel obligated to include me on any card lists of your own as I'm completely unable to reciprocate this year. Hopefully in the New year things may be a little better than they are right now and I'll do another postcard batch or something =)

4) icons: I've recently found someone using one of my icons which was a textless one which they've adapted themselves. No credit or anything and didn't ask if they could do this. Part of me is a little miffed at this and I keep thinking about doing a reminder post on paper_packages that textless icons are not bases and I'll happily take requests or adapt them if asked. Another part of me thinks I'm a little arrogant or something for being miffed as it's not like I'm some wow icon-maker anyway. Usually if I see my icons used without credit I just politely ask them to add credit so if other people see them and like them they can find their way to the comm, and they're always really nice about it. I've not contacted this particular LJ user though as I'm conflicted as to whether I'm just being a bit uppity or something. IDEK.

5) spermies: These are my most favourite pair of shoes/trainers I've ever owned. They're known as Northwave street shoes and I've had these about 10 years and I still love them to bits and still wear them sometimes and I will never part with them. Sadly I can't find Northwave's around here anywhere anymore so I don't think they still sell them. *sadface* I call them my Spermies... can you see why? =)

@3 - no worries at all! I would feel worse if you sent out cards when you couldn't really afford it than if you didn't send them out, honest!

@4 - I would say something to them. For all you know, they might not have honestly known. They have snagged the icon from someone who didn't have credit listed, so they had no way to know it wasn't to be used as a base. Maybe someone else edited it too, who knows? Benefit of the doubt. Just phrase it in such a way that you're letting them know it's not cool, but you're not livid with them, and could the please change the situation (IE take it down, or at the very least, credit you as the base designer.) Let them know you would appreciate it if they didn't do it again in the future, but that you would LOVE for them to send you idea they had, and would happily make alterations for them.

@5 - that is such a design FAIL that it's WIN! That bring SO many bad images into my mind... none of which needed to be associated with shoes!!! *glares*

@3 - As always, not a problem! It's not like I've exactly been good about card either ;) The internet is cheaper and faster - so for now, this is good for us broke people **hugs**

@4 - If you want, I can "beta" the message; send it to me in an email or something and I'll look it over (from the point of view of that other person) and see how it. Let me know if that's something I can help you out with :)

@5 - It looks like a sperm is swimming into an egg... I don't want to be reminded of bio class every time I put on shoes ;) On the other hand, they are pretty awesome *lol*

@5 - After some research - time I should have spent doing homework well spent - I have figured out exactly what the shoes are! Well... nearly exactly!

They debuted in 97-98. The line (and I'm not kidding this...) is called "Life", and it's 100% meant to look like a sperm(s). Here's the names for the colors they came in: "True Love", "Romeo & Juliette", "Sutra", "Forever", "Loner", "Escort", "2 A.M.", and "Puppy Love". I'm not sure which one you have, but I know it's not "Forever" or "Sutra", which are blue/grey and black, respectively.

The bad news is that they don't make them anymore. I can't figure out exactly when they stopped, but they definitely aren't sold anymore :( Sorry hun! The closest this they have is the "Mad Max", but it's not even remotely close to as cool!!! Write Northwave a letter saying you want them back! I will as well, if you want :) If we get all of the internet to write in, there's no way they can deny us the spermies!!!

And I also know the line these are from are called 'Life' as I still have the box! I also have another Northwave box from a blue pair I had (not spermies) that fell apart so I don't have them anymore.

I'd give anything for another pair of Northwave's - wouldn't even have to be Spermies! I just love them so much ♥

Ah! See, when I first read the post it sounded like you had forgotten the name of the shoes (specifically) and wondered if they still existed. I never keep shoes boxes... huh.

Let's put it this way: whoever takes me on as a research assistant-intern this summer will be VERY lucky! I have mad research skillz! Both in text and online.
