1) work: There was a meeting for all our staff in Southampton yesterday (I chose now to go) to talk more about the closure of our buildings and whether or not we'll lose our jobs and when that will be. Still no more real news that there already was, though to most that were there, it's fairly clear most of the decisions have already been made but aren't being shared yet. Seems likely we'll know for sure in May about when the closures will actually happen and likely too that we'll have a year or two after that before this building is finally closed down. No idea then what happens about our jobs but for sure I need to seriously start looking, even though there's really nothing out there job-wise. Still, at least I have a little time which is more than a lot of people have, and worst case scenario, I can always sell the flat as a temporary fall back. Whatever, have to wait and see I suppose.

2) hospital: Spoke to the hospital admissions people yesterday and my operation (which was due to take plcae on January 28th) has been cancelled. This is apparently due to lots of cancellations in December so everything is now backing up, and they've no idea at this point when it will be rescheduled. For lots of reasons that I won't bother going into, I was pretty gutted by this. Still am actually, though trying to just not think about it and concentrate on other things.

3) paper legends: The bright spot of my day yesterday - and what I'm focusing on - is that now I know about the operation I was finally able to put up the schedule for paperlegends. Fair amount of interest so far and I'm really hoping a good amount of people participate and enjoy it as much as they did last year; I certainly plan to focus all my energies on it to make it as successful and stress-free for everyone as I can. Awww, hon, I'm SO SORRY that your surgery was cancelled. That's such a load of crap, but unfortunately not surprising. Hospitals are terrible like that here... Still, I can't imagine how frustrating it must be, so I'm so very sorry *hugs tight*

The work thing is frustrating too, but like you say -- the bright side is that at least you'll have some time to figure things out and find a new job. But that being said, it still doesn't make it any less annoying.

Glad that things are starting to roll with paperlegends. I'm very much on the fence about participating again because I have a hard time with canon these days and I can't write an AU... but it seems like there is a lot of interest, so I think it'll probably go well and you'll have a good turn out :D. So yay!!

The surgery is a bigger deal right now for me than the job situation, even though I suppose it probably shouldn't be that way round. Oh well.

I'm sorry you mightnot participate this year, and can only hope that you change your mind; still, it's your choice of course love, and you have to do what is right for you =)

i'm sorry to hear about the bleak job prospects and the surgery! i agree that you at least have some time to look for another job. if you still have 1-2 years left at your current job, you even have time to acquire some new skills that might help to find something else.

I can't believe it! After all the waiting... I'm so sorry they did that to you, and I hope you'll get a new time soon! *hugs tightly*

On the work front, a lot can change in a year or two and you have work experience, which at least around here gives you fairly good chances, so I have faith you'll find a good replacement job if your current building really does close. Or even if it doesn't, if you happen to find something you like better :) Like you said, you still have time. It's a hard position to be in, but I wish you all the luck you could possibly need!

They will finally start showing Merlin here this Spring and I'm already horrified I'll get hooked to yet another series :) I've managed to resist downloading it, mostly because I haven't had time for anything at all, but then it will be so easy to just record it... I can feel my resolve crumbling already! Well, at least I know where to start looking for fanfic if everything else fails :) And I'll definitely post the banner right after I get this posted! Every fandom should have their own Big Bang and I'm always willing to promote :)

I'm feeling less gutted (and selfish) than I was - I know a lot of hospitals are pretty much closed to all non-emergency stuff right now due to the flu epidemic, and that includes the hospital I was due to go into. So, yeah, probably for the best after all.

You did such a fabulous job with the comm last year and I can't wait for this year. Although, I must admit, there are still a few fics that I haven't gotten around to reading yet. I really need to get on that.
